Dollie Number 2

Always love my sew days with my mom ! !
We get to enjoy each others company
AND .    .       .   .    .
We get to sew, or sometimes we just
talk about our next project.

This sew day we made another dollie.

A co-worker had just moved into
her new house and I thought she
would love to have a dollie.

One day I spent painted the fabric.

Then the next sew day we made the doll.

I named her Hattie Mae.

I hope Hattie Mae enjoys her new home ! ! !

Happy New Years ! !

My first

Always enjoy the time I spend with mom on our sew days.
This sew day mom showed me how to make a doll.
This was an easy pattern.  At least it was for me.
Mom found the Angel Doll Pattern on Corry's blog.

Below is a pic of my first doll.
She is the Chrisamas Gift for the
Thimbleberries Christmas Party.
Even though she didn't stay with me
very long I hope she will be
happy at her new home.

I named her Sally.

Christmas Stocking

As I was browsing thru my reader I came across
a link to Nebraska Views for Christmas Stockings
made from blue jeans on Alderwood Quilts
I have about 20 old pairs of jeans I need to do something with
so I thought I would try a Christmas Stocking
I already made 1 apron.

Not too bad for my first practice jean stocking.
Hopefully the next ones I make will be better.

I had made two this day.

My first one was plain.

The second one I added  a pencil/cell phone pocket.

I gave them away to PK.

She LOVED them.

It's been

Awhile since my last post.
I have been busy at work and also having sew days with my mother.

It seems like we never end up doingwhat we had planned.
I finished two table toppers.

One for a gift exchange and work.

And one for a co-worker.

I am still working on another table topper for a co-worker.
He might not get his by Christmas.

Manhattan Transfer - Java Jive (Brasil 1988 + 1970s blended)

The other night I went to The Performing Arts Center to see the Show-Me-Showboaters.  They are an all male barbershop group.  Every year they put on a show.  This year the show was "The Show Me Gang and the Unfair Maiden'"   The show was done in spaghetti western-style.   Very funny.  I never laughed so hard in my life.  One of the songs that they sang was the Java Jive.  I looked it up on youtube and this was as best as I could find.

Hungry ?

Had another sew day with mom.
We finished up another apron and
worked on binding for my Patriotic Star.

The apron was made from an old pair of my sons jeans.
Here she is modeling the apron.

Since it was getting late mom asked me to stay for dinner.

Of course, I said OKAY! ! and you can try out our apron.

Here she making my dinner.

3 minutes on the timer ! !

While my dinner is cooking she makes her and her hubby's dinner.

Now by the time she gets their dinner ready
mine should be done and we are ready to eat.

Boy she didn't even get the apron dirty.

Dinner sure was good.

A Gardner's Touch

I have been working a quilt using Chenille.
I thought it was gonna be quick and easy.
Boy was I wrong.  I had trouble with the Chenille.
The Chenille stretched and moved,
I did a lot of ripping and re-sewing.

I think because this Chenille gave me so much
trouble I did not even want to work on the quilt.

After alot of sewing, ripping, and sewing, I took
the quilt over my moms to see if she had any ideas.

We finally decided that I should sew each layer of
the Chenille separately.  I used water soluble thread
to sew on the first layer of Wine Chenille.
Then I used regular thread to sew on the Rose Chenille.

This worked out better, but . . . . .
the second layer of Chenille still moved and stretched.

I am still deciding if I need to quilt the flowers
before washing the quilt.

I follow a few blogs (even though I don't always leave a comment)
I did see a posting on Chenille at Millie's Blog  Millie's Quilting .
Millie had trouble too.  She decided to use a Press N Seal Technique.
The Press N Seal was used to hold down the Chenille while she sewed.
I think I will try using the Press N Seal the next time I sew with Chenille.
(If there is a next time)

Halloween Orphan Blocks

Mom was wanting to get rid of some of her stash,
so we got together and had a couple of "SEW DAY " dates.

The first sew day we went through her stash and
found some "Orphan Blocks" and some fabric.
(I had some Halloween Orphan Blocks and
fabric at home that I had brought over.)

Since it was close to Halloween, we thought we
should work on the Halloween Orphan Blocks and fabric.

Here is what we came up with so far.

Wall hanging using the Less Than Traditional pattern;

Then we worked on a Halloween Garland;

and a Haunted House;

Then a single wall hanging/table topper/coaster.

We still have a wall hanging and 2 table toppers
to do for Halloween then it will off to see what
we can do with our Christmas stash.

We had so much fun doing these little projects.
Can't wait to see what we come up with next.

Am looking forward to our next "SEW DATE" ! ! ! ! !

Less Than Traditional

Now that ALL the baby quilts have
been made and given out,
I don't have any projects that need
my immediate attention.

The other day I went to my moms and
we worked on a project together.

While at the Quilt Show here in Jeff City,
my mom had bought a "Less Than Traditional" Pattern.
This was a practice project to see how it was done.
I read the directions ,
mom got the fabric ready to sew,
and I sewed.
This was sooooo quick and easy.

We made a placemat for the practice project.
You can also make quilts, table runners, pillowslips,
almost anything with this pattern.
When you are done sewing your project is done.
You quilt as you go.

This is the front side.

This is the back side.

We had a great a GREAT time doing this project.
We are going to whip up some more of these
using up mom's orphan blocks.
Can't wait to see what we come up with.

Bella and her Quilt

Bella was thrilled to get her new Tinkerbell Quilt.

Here is Bella with my little note to her.

Her she is getting then quilt out of the bag.
I put the quilts in a plastic bag just in case it rained
the quilts would not get wet.

Bella will be warm this winter.
The quilt is a little too big.
But I always liked to wrap
up in my quilts on a cold night.

Here is Bret and Katie with the Baby's Quilt.

Am glad they LOVE the quilts.

I know they will enjoy and
get plenty of use out of them.

My son's next venture ! ? !

Today was a sad day at our home.
My son decided to move to Michigan.
He is taking a Greyhound Bus there.
What a LOONG ride that will be.
Last night he packed his bags.
He is only allowed one carry-on and one checked.
The carry-on can not weigh over  25 pounds and
the checked bag can't weigh over 50 pounds.
Before our ride to the bus station we stopped
by my work to weigh his baggage.

First is the checked bag.

Then the carry-on.
Now that the bags are weighed
(and below the allotted weight limit)
AND  .  .  .  .
We are off the the bus station.

We made it to the bus station
BUT    .   .   .   .  .
It doesn't open til 9 am.
Sooooo  .    .    .   .   .
We are off to Country Kitchen for coffee and soda.
Ryan used to work at the Country Kitchen in Jefferson City.
When we got there, one of the owners, Mark, was there.
So we had talked to Mark for awhile then
went inside to get our drinks.
We met Billie, one of the waitresses here.
Billie was also in one of Country Kitchen Commercials.
Billie was in the Rib Dinner Commercial,
Ryan was in the Country Kitchen Commercial .

Bille and Ryan
The Country Kitchen Commercial Stars ! !
After our drinks it was off to the bus station.

When we got there, the parking lot was pretty
full of cars. A couple of the cars were
from the Dept of Corrections.
I thought that was kinda strange.
( Oh by the way ---
they didn't even bother to
check the baggage weight on peoples
checked baggage),
Uhmmmmm ! ! ! !
After Ryan checked in, we sat down in the
snack room area they had and
started talking with some of the people there.
Come to find out some of the people
were just released from prison.
Good thing they were going to Kansas City
and Ryan was going towards St Louis.

Ryan is waiting for the bus.
And waiting  .    .    .    .
35 minutes past departure time : (

My first REAL bus ride ! ! ! !

Ticket --- Check ! ! !

Baggage --- Check ! ! !

Here I GO !

 I'm Off.
Columbia - St. Louis -
Effingham - Indianapolis -
Cincinnati -
DETROIT ! ! ! !

Can you see me?
Yep that shadow is me .
If you embiggin this pic you can see my shadow.

I am sitting on the passenger side right in
front of the back tire.
Hopefully this is a safe seat.

If you look closely.
I am sitting at the window right above the Greyhounds tail.

GO ! ! ! !
GOing  ! ! ! !
GONE !   !   !  !

I wish him well.  He will be missed.
