Scrappy Jean Quilt

I was saving my old jeans (all 23 of them) to make a quilt . I was planning to use the rag go die, BUT . . . . that was a BUST. One layer of jean was way too thick to cut, so I did it the old fashioned way. I sewed the jeans together then spent many a hours cutting.

Retaining Wall

As you can see from my previous post about my retaining wall I will eventually need to replace it. To go about replacing the retaining wall was new to me. I first went to the local brick place Mid West Block to see what they suggested. The guy there mentioned that I should go downtown to see if the retaining wall was on my side of the property line or on the city side. So off I went to see where the property line lays. Since I am a Habitat House Homeowner I also stopped by our local Habitat Office to see if they kept a copy of where my property lines are. While I was there at the Habitat office I was given a couple of names to look up to re-do my retaining wall. I found out that the retaining wall IS on my side of the property line. :( That is as far as I got and was going to continue with the process after the first of the year. Next thing I knew I got a call from the local Habitat Office wanting to know if I would be interested in being the pilot project for their new "A Brush With Kindness" Program. Well needless to say they didn't have to ask me twice. I said YES ! YES ! YES ! ! ! I had an interview with the local paper and made the front page ! !
Til next time with an update ! !

Saying Goodbye to . . .

the old retaining wall. Here are a few pics of the old retaining wall.
When we first built our house in 1996, the guys from Habitat let Ryan write his name in the cement on top of part of the retaining wall. I took a pic because I don't know if they will be able to save his name.
Work will begin shortly. I will be posting updates the next few posts. Thanx for stopping by Til next time

Oh My . . . .

How time flies by . . . . . I have been very busy with family work, work, and more work. That's my story and I am sticking to it. I had taken a much need break from blogging (even tho I don't blog very often) and also sewing. PC's quilt was enough for me for a while. I did make PC a baby quilt for her baby Remington due Aug 23rd-ish. Of course it is now wall art. LOL ! ! ! . By the time this post actually posts PC will probably have delivered Remi or is close to it. Will post pics at a later date. I need to get them off my phone and camera. The church kids from the 3MT organization came back this year to work on my house. And of course, they came a week later this and it was the hottest week of the year for this year. Different group of kids. They power washed my home, wood deck, and weeded my yard and alley way. Boy my home sure does look GREAT ! ! ! This year I made Hot Pads and Mugrugs and min-placemats/table toppers for the kids to chose from. They were soooo excited to chose a gift some even picked out 2 to take with them. Am going to be more prepared for next years visit and start filling up my gift box. I also did small sewing projects. I will also post those in a future post. I think maybe I will set aside time every once in awhile to blog. Have a GREAT DAY ! ! Thanx for stopping by ! !

Another project . . .

Done . . . .
DUN    .   .  .  .
My mom had sent me a URL from a blog that she follows

Since I do have many old jeans just piling up and
waiting to be worked into a project, I thought I
would give it a try.

I had made a pruse out of the legs of jeans.
Using just one leg seemed too small for me.
SOOOOOO . . . .
I used two legs and joined them to make one big leg.

Anyway, It turned out pretty darn good.

Well looks like I didn't get a pic of this before I gave it away.

Journals . . .

It has been a year since I blogged and this was from last year 2011

The week of July 18th was the HOTTEST week of the year for JC.
I took that week off for vacation. . .  .Well not really vacation but
I did want to work in the yard.

A church group -3MT- was in town during some mission work.

I was a lucky homeowner that received some of their services.

They helped me with yard work.

I have let my yard go for soo long that I am now paying for it.

My front yard looks soooo much better with their help.
We pulled weeds and planted carpet phlox.
The mission group bought mulch and put the mulch down and
planted a few plants.

I had made them some journal covers (with journals) as a thank you.

Below are just two of the journals I had made.
Yes the pic is a little blurry, sorry
